Make Your Bedroom Dreamy

dreamy bedroom
Trouble sleeping?

You've tried Chamomile tea, tart cherry juice, meditation, and Melatonin to no avail.  Maybe your bedroom is to blame.  Or at least partially.  Here are some quick and easy ways to make your bedroom a dreamy place.

COLORS.  Did you know that your color choices could be messing up your sleep cycle?  Yeah, me neither.  What are some of the best sleep inducing shades? Blue, Yellow, and Green.  The worst? Purple. According to this neat article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2325476/Want-good-nights-sleep-Find-colours-use-bedroom-avoid-decent-kip.html

DE-CLUTTER.  Everything feels right in the world when your most personal spaces (bedroom and bathroom) are de-cluttered and clean.  Nothing like getting up to make a simple trip to the bathroom and end up awake for hours with the pain of injury sustained on something left on the floor.

MAKE YOUR BED.  For me, there is nothing more soothing than climbing into a bed that has been beautifully made.  Otherwise it feels as if I'm climbing into Chaos. Fresh sheets are a must as well.  Making beds not your forte? Here are some tips http://www.howcast.com/videos/327-How-to-Make-a-Bed

SLEEPY SMELLS.  I suggest making a room and linen spray with some lavender essential oils for a calming effect.(small spray bottle, filled with water, add 10-15 drops lavender, Valerian, Vetiver, Roman Chamomile, Sandalwood, or Marjoram essential oils)  You could also purchase a plug in oil diffuser, or rub a few drops onto your light bulb.

BEDS ARE FOR SLEEPING.  While it seems tempting (especially in winter) to come straight home from work and pile into bed with the pets, kids, and spouse and just watch TV until bedtime.. It keeps you from experiencing that crucial transition time needed to help you separate relaxing family time with bed time.

TURN OFF THE TV.  Too much violence, bad news, and horrible TV shows can interrupt your sleep cycle or keep you from sleeping all together.  Invest in a sound machine, or a relaxing CD.  There is an app on my iPad that I use called Serenity.  There are many beautiful and calming sounds available.  My favorite is the thunderstorm and the crackling campfire.

I Hope these tips help you as they have always helped me.  Happy Slumbers!
