Tidy Tip Tuesday: Cleaning your microwave
Okay, okay. We admit it, our blog needs a little love.
So, we're going to be starting our series of Tidy Tip Tuesdays, helpful How-Tos that will show you how easy it can be to green-clean!
The posts feature products by our sister company, Tidy Thyme, which we created based on the formulations Green Genies uses in our clients' homes.
Let's start in the kitchen, with a nice, easy job: The Microwave!
Ah, the microwave. The champion of reheating leftovers. These convenient appliances can be a great help in eating healthily on a tight schedule. But they can also be the site of some spectacular explosions of marinara sauce. So let's look at a really easy way to get your microwave clean and shiny like new!
You'll need:
a microwaveable bowl. water. Tidy Thyme Glass & Stainless Steel Cleaner. a clean microfiber cloth or two.
(optional: sponge. Tidy Thyme Multipurpose Cleaner.)
Step one: Spray Tidy Thyme Glass & Stainless Steel Cleaner inside the microwave. If your microwave is very greasy, use Tidy Thyme Multipurpose Cleaner.
Step two: Fill the bowl partway with water and microwave for 6-8 minutes, enough for the water to steam the inside of the appliance. Carefully remove the bowl when done.
Step three: Remove the glass plate and wipe clean. Then wipe out the inside of the oven, making sure to get the inside of the door. A sponge may be used before the microfiber cloth if the oven was greasy.
Step four: Replace the glass plate and close the door. Spray a bit of Tidy Thyme Glass & Stainless Steel Cleaner on a microfiber and wipe down the outside of the appliance. Be sure to focus on the touchpad and handle to get all the fingerprints. If your microwave has a stainless steel exterior, go with the grain for a smudge-free finish.
That's it! A simple, healthy way to keep your microwave clean, fresh, and shiny!
